ABOUT HEALTH COACHING

Our services for health education are informed by principles of biology, with an emphasis on stress biology.

  • Stress biology is the study of biological reactions of resistance within a body to an external pressure, such as a threat, challenge, or physical barrier.

Therapeutically, sessions invite you to understand the influence of your nervous system (i.e. your body’s governance system) on your immune system (i.e. your body’s defense system), and how interactions between your bodily systems produce your habituated patterns of health and well-being.

Specifically, sessions center upon health education.

  • Health education the process of receiving or giving systematic instruction for your healing, health, and well-being.

Learning about biology is therapy. When you understand how your body works, you can take the appropriate actions to achieve your intentions for healing, health, and well-being.

For example, research shows that when we understand why we hurt, we hurt less. This is because pain is the result of ignorance, at the sensitive and/or cognitive levels of the brain.

  • Notably, we don’t waste time and energy focusing on non-excitable organ systems (i.e. fascia) or non-anatomical systems (i.e. meridians) that lack scientific credibility and biological plausibility as mechanisms for manual treatment.

Learn the science of autoimmune disease, and how to incorporate and strengthen habits that place symptoms into remission.

  • The Autoimmune Protocol (AIP) is a science-based elimination and reintroduction dietary protocol.

  • AIP Coaching focuses on teaching clients how to repair gut health, balance hormones, and regulate their immune system by removing food-driven sources of inflammation and restoring nutrient density to overall diet as well as addressing meal hygiene and dietary behavior.

  • AIP may be used alone or in combination with other treatments, depending on a person’s needs, and has been medically researched.

EXPLAIN PAIN COACHING

Learn the science of pain, and how an education in stress biology and Seven Resources for Resilience can transform the experience of pain from one of fear to one of empowerment.

  • All pain is real – and for many people is it a debilitating part of everyday life.

  • It is now known that understanding more about why things hurt can actually help people to overcome their pain, and recent advances in fields such as neurophysiology, brain imaging, immunology, psychology and cellular biology have provided an explanatory platform from which to explore pain.

  • Coaching sessions engender informed hope, providing a framework that integrates pain education with manual and movement therapy.

  • We use multimedia, storytelling, and metaphor to explain pain and transform.

  • We explore scientific principles to challenge senses and perceptions, ways of feelings and thinking, and beliefs in order to become more adaptable and resilient in behavior and action.

  • Breathwork sessions serve as your opportunity to learn the anatomy and physiology of breathing and to explore how controlled breathing techniques can influence your biology.

  • There are many different breathwork techniques, and each one has a unique purpose and effect on your body.
